The academic year for 2020 is set to start tomorrow the 15th of January 2020. The MEC of Education in Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi updated the public on appeals and late registration for Grade 1 and 8 Admissions.

The Gauteng Province is said to be ready for the 2020 academic year. Late Applications/Registrations open tomorrow. Parents who applied last year online are encouraged to accept offer by midnight today, if not the offers will be made available to parents who are ready to apply for late registrations.

Gauteng Department of Education says the late registration will open on Wednesday, 15 January 2020 and close on the 24th January 2020. Only schools with capacity will be availed in the system during this period. Applicants will be provisionally placed until they submit documents to the school.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura and MEC’s will tomorrow visit schools across the Gauteng Province to ensure that teaching and learning commences as we mark day one of the academic year.

The respective departments will oversee the first day’s proceedings and provide learners with Learning and Teaching Support Material.

Nearby, The MEC of Public Transport and Road Infrastructure, Jacob Mamabolo will be at Endulwini Primary School in Tembisa.

Meanwhile in KAE, some parents have been frustrated by the online application system the Department recently introduced.

A parent of a learner in Grade 8 was visibly upset by the online system. The parent who wished to send his daughter to Tsosolotso Ya Afrika Secondary School was frustrated.

“This whole online process is a mess. Why is Panyaza [Lesufi] fixing something that’s not broken? The old system was much better. I can’t buy uniform because I don’t know which school my daughter will attend.”

All parents that want to register their children manually are requested to avail themselves tomorrow at Lord Khanyile Hall, Ivory Park 2.
