TAXI DRIVER GRADUATES RECEIVE LAPTOPS
Two (2) recently graduated taxi drivers were gifted brand new Mecer laptops by Amaqhawe Business Solutions (ABS) in partnership with the Ivory Park Taxi Association (IPTA).
Amaqhawe Business Solution is a dynamic Accounting, Bookkeeping, Auditing, Business Advisory and Consulting firm for the taxi industry. It does the books for the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) in Gauteng. The firm pledged to donate the laptops last year at IPTA’s Annual General Meeting.
Pelican Khumalo (29) the taxi driver who graduated as a teacher and Morgan Lesese (53) who obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at UNISA in 2018 were delighted with their new laptops and thanked IPTA for valuing education. Khumalo said he will use the laptop for his classroom at Ebony Park Primary School and Lesese will be looking at cases.
The ceremony was held at IPTA Midrand offices and present at the occasion was the Vice Chairperson of IPTA, Vusi Macheke and the Marketing and Communications Manager of ABS, Lamela Makuluma.
Lesese works for a state owned company which refused to fund his studies. He is a taxi driver-owner and used money collected from IPTA fares to finance 100% of his studies.
Furthermore, IPTA will be sponsoring sports equipment, balls and sports kits to Ebony Park Primary School. Khumalo will be coaching soccer as he also used to play soccer at Eqinisweni Secondary School.
