SWIMMING POOL UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is forging ahead with plans of building a swimming pool facility in Ivory Park. Construction is currently underway in Ivory Park.
The pool has been long over due and was expected to be complete in November 2017. The MMC for Finance in CoJ Funzela Ngobeni reaffirmed the swimming pool plans in 2019/20 budget vote on the 22nd of last year year when he said “Amongst others, the Community Development Department’s three-year capital allocation of R321 million will be utilised for the construction of multipurpose centres in Lehae, Matholesville, Kaalfontein and Drieziek. We will also construct swimming pools for the communities in Cosmo City and Ivory Park.”
The Democratic Alliance (DA) MMC for Finance Ngobeni was replaced late last year by the African National Congress’ (ANC) Jolidee Matongo. According to the CoJ Inegrated Development Plan the project cost is R5m.
Construction is expected to be complete early next year.
