HOUSING MMC HANDS OVER TITLE DEEDS IN RIVERSIDE

The City of Johannesburg Member of the Mayoral Committee, Clr Mlungisi Mabaso handed over title deeds to beneficiaries in Riverside today, 1 October 2020.

The MMC handed over more than 50 Title Deeds to housing beneficiaries in Riverside. The City had appointed a builder to build over 4,000 multi-story RDP Units in various extensions of Riverside View during May 2011.

MMC Mabaso acknowledged that title deeds are legal documents that prove legal ownership of property under South African law and thus, has opted to continue to hand them over in phases to ensure that residents are given dignity.

“As the government of local unity, we are determined to provide our residents with home ownership through various means and rapidly through the issuing of title deeds.”

“We have started issuing them robustly and we will continue to dignify our residents in all seven regions of this City.” said MMC Mabaso.

Beneficiaries which some come from informal settlements in Ivory Park and surrounding areas and have been on the housing waiting list for years were delighted at the handover ceremony.

Everyone who stays at the Riverside Development will receive their proof of ownership however the Housing Department will be issuing them out in phases.
