IVORY PARK IS NOT A HIDEOUT FOR CRIMINALS, SAYS STATION COMMANDER

The Acting Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Colonel Baba Mpotoane has welcomed the arrest of a 29-year-old man from Ivory Park’s Ext 2 for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

“The suspect was arrested at his rented room at Extension Two by a police team comprising of the SAPS’s K9 Unit and the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Officers, who had been following information connected to a business robbery which took place in Kempton Park [last week] Friday.” said Captain Ben Matimulane the spokesperson of the Ivory Park SAPS.

“All in all a total of six suspects have been arrested for the robbery, inclusive of the 29-year-old man from Ivory Park. The firearm in question was found with four rounds of live ammunition. Over and above the firearm the officers impounded a company car. The suspect is keeping mum as to the origin of the vehicle but this detail will form part of police investigations into the group henceforth.” Matimulane said.

His case has been handed over to the Ekurhuleni North’s Trio Task Team detectives who are responsible for all serious cases within the district. The suspects is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court after which, it is expected, that he will join others with whom he is alleged to be in cahoots with.

“We thank the officers involved, for coming into our area and ridding us an illegal firearm and an alleged criminal. Hopefully others like him are taking notes, the important of which is that Ivory Park is not a hideout for criminals,” said Colonel Mpotoane.
