TEACHER SHOT DEAD AT TEMBISA SCHOOL GATE
Gauteng Police are investigating the circumstances of a murder which happened at the school gate of Phomolong Secondary School in Tembisa on Friday afternoon, 21 January 2022.
A 50 year old female deputy principal was fatally shot while driving out of the school’s gate.
According to eyewitnesses, three (3) gunmen appeared out of nowhere and shot her through the passenger window.
She fell to the ground as she got out of her car trying to escape the gunshots. One of the gunmen allegedly shot her twice while she was on the ground.
The gunmen fled the scene without taking anything.
“We sincerely wish to convey our deepest condolences to the family and entire school community. Indeed, the motive of this level of cruelty is unknown, but I’m comforted that this case has been taken over by the Provincial SAPS and as such we are adamant that the perpetrators will be bought to justice” said the Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. Police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo says the motive for the attack is unknown.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the three suspects were driving a white vehicle,” he said.
Masondo says police are appealing to anyone who might have information and can help the investigation to come forward.
Social Media reports that the teacher was shot by a Matric pupil who was apparently failed by the deceased are unconfirmed.
