27 DECEMBER DECLARED A PUBLIC HOLIDAY
President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared Tuesday, 27 December a public holiday because of Christmas Day falling on a Sunday.
The Public Holiday’s Act allows that whenever a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday becomes a public holiday.
However, this festive season, Monday 26 December (Day of Goodwill) overlaps with Monday after Christmas.
This would cause only 11 paid public holidays instead of the 12 annually specified in the Public Holidays Act, said Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya.
