DRAKE KOKA PRIMARY SCHOOL RECEIVES GENEROUS DONATION
Drake Koka Primary School, located in Kaalfontein, received a significant donation on Monday 08 April 2024, aimed at enhancing its technological capabilities.
The donation, comprising a state-of-the-art large printer and four (4) modern laptops, was generously provided by Mettus/ XDS Information Credit Bureau.
This donation is a result of a collaborative effort between the Gauteng Department of Education, JHB East District, and Mettus/ XDS Information Credit Bureau.
Through this partnership, another school in Ivory Park, Mikateka Primary School, has also benefited.
Mettus/ XDS Information Credit Bureau is committed to assisting schools in acquiring coding and robotics competencies through ICT-related donations. The objective is to equip schools with 21st-century skills necessary for success in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Mrs. Onicca Mabina, the Principal of Drake Koka Primary School, expressed her gratitude for being selected to receive the donation.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the school, she emphasized the importance of the donation in advancing their goal of becoming an ICT-focused institution, thereby enhancing teaching and learning processes.
Mr. Alex Songo, Deputy Chief and Education Specialist at JHB East District, who oversees partnerships, highlighted the significance of the collaboration with Mettus/ XDS Information Credit Bureau. He praised the consistent support provided by the organization, which has positively impacted school operations across the district.
Israel Kolisa, a grade 7 learner at Drake Koka Primary School, shared his excitement about the donation. He recounted the school’s previous achievements in coding and robotics despite resource limitations.
With the new resources, Israel expressed confidence that the school’s coding and robotics team could achieve even greater success, aiming for the top position in the province. The donation represents a significant step forward for Drake Koka Primary School, empowering both educators and learners to embrace technological innovation and prepare for the challenges.
