MATRIC RESULTS ARE EXPECTED ON 13 JANUARY 2025
Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube (DA) announced that the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) matric results will be released during the second week of January.
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) is finalising preparations to ensure a smooth conclusion to this year’s matric examination process.
Matric results are set for 13 January 2025, with provincial education departments expected to release them the following day.
“The department has set up 181 marking centres across the country, all of which have been audited and deemed ready. Over 50 000 markers will ensure the integrity of the marking process,” Gwarube said.
She added that 60 of the planned 164 Marking Standardisation Meetings had already taken place to finalise guidelines.
There’s concern by the Information Regulator that Matric Results should not be released publicly as this violates the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act.
Despite this, the DBE maintains that publishing results in newspapers does not breach privacy laws and provides an accessible option for learners.
