‪GOGO SAVED FROM FLOODS‬

A 60 year old lady was rescued by the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (CoJ EMS) yesterday afternoon, the 8th of December 2019.

The lady was trapped in a man made bridge in Ivory Park, Themba Khoza. The CoJ EMS Spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi has urged Johannesburg residents to avoid crossing flooded areas to prevent drowning incidents.

In times of persistent rainfall. The Kaalspruit River, which runs from Kaalfontein to Ivory Park is dangerous. The river has claimed a handful of lives in recent times.

In other related news, the South African Weather Service has issued a warning of more rain in the week ahead. The warning for floods remains valid.

“Please take extreme caution on the roads. Do NOT cross flooded roads. Avoid areas already flooded and don’t drive around barricades, turn around and find an alternative route.”
