17,000 PEOPLE ENTERED SOUTH AFRICA FROM ZIMBABWE
Thousands of travellers are returning to South Africa through the Beitbridge border.
On Saturday, around 17,000 people entered South Africa from Zimbabwe.
The Border Management Authority says 210 people have been arrested for attempting to cross the border illegally.
“The latest figure in terms of the past 24 hours is 210 that we’ve been able to intersect on the vulnerable segments,” said BMA commissioner Mike Masiapato.
Meanwhile, Traffic volumes have increased on national roads in Gauteng as the festive season draws to a close and thousands of people return home from various destinations.
Law enforcement agencies including Gauteng Traffic Wardens are conducting roadblocks focusing on drunk driving and speeding.
