Joint Operation “Paseka” comprising of Police and other law enforcement agencies paid dividends in Ekurhuleni District over the Easter Weekend, from Good Friday until Monday morning.
Ekurhuleni District includes the Ivory Park, Tembisa, Tembisa South and Rabie Ridge policing precincts amongst others.
The suspects were arrested for cases ranging from murder, kidnapping, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, business robberies, dealing in drugs, theft, sexual assault, selling liquor without licences, shoplifting, assault, assault with intent to cause grivious bodily harm, domestic violence related issues, murder, drunk and driving, reckless and negligent driving, contraventions the National Road Traffic Act, malicious damage to property and interference with Police duties.
“The successes were effected through high police visibility along the roads, stop and searching, visits to liquor outlets and second hand goods stores in order to check compliance,” said Captain Neldah Sekgobela the SAPS Ekurhuleni District Communications Officer.
The Acting District Commissioner thanked the efforts made by members in order to ensure the safety of the residents of the district.
All the arrested suspects are expected to appear in their respective Magistrate Courts soon to face their charges.
