ALLEGED LESBIAN RAPIST DENIED BAIL

The Tembisa Magistrate’s Court denied an alleged rapist bail on Thursday, 08 April 2021. The suspect was arrested on the 20th of February 2021 by the Ivory Park Police.

It is alleged that on the night of the 19th of February, the victim, who is a lesbian female was stabbed in the mouth and raped by the suspect in Ivory Park Extenstion 3.

The suspect who is known to the victim was arrested the following day. The suspect has been behind bars ever since he was arrested. It is alleged that his family and friends attempted to bribe the victim with R1,000 to drop the case.

Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) attended the court hearing yesterday to give support to the victim. The EFF has vowed to confront Gender Based Violence (GBV) whenever it rears its ugly head. The EFF has gone as far as establishing a “Gender Desk” for any gender related issues. “As women, we are sick and tired of these rapists who treat us like animals. Men must respect women wether lesbian or not. We say NO TO GBV! The rapist must rot in jail. No bail for him. We don’t want these kind of people around our children and community.” said Alice Mpeqa, the Deputy Chairperson of the EFF in Ward 111.

The suspect has been remanded to Modderbee Prison until his next court appearance on the 14th of April.
