ANC ROLLS OUT SMART MEMBERSHIP CARDS IN IVORY PARK

On April 4, 2025, the African National Congress (ANC) took a significant step in its ongoing journey of renewal and modernization with the official rollout of its new Smart Membership Cards.

The initiative, aimed at enhancing member participation and streamlining organizational processes, saw ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula personally engaging with members on the ground in Ivory Park, Johannesburg.

The event marked a pivotal moment in the ANC’s efforts to rebuild and strengthen its structures, with Ward 79 in Ivory Park serving as a key focal point for this transformative program.

A New Era of Membership

The introduction of the Smart Membership Card is more than just a technological upgrade—it’s a cornerstone of the ANC’s renewal agenda.

Designed to empower members by giving them greater control over their participation in party processes, the card eliminates barriers such as interference or gatekeeping that have historically plagued organizational activities.

As Mbalula handed over the cards to members in Ward 79, he emphasized their role in ensuring that every ANC member can actively contribute to the life of the party without undue obstacles.

“This new membership system and card are an integral part of our organizational building and renewal processes,” Mbalula stated during the handover ceremony

Mbalula’s visit underscored the party’s commitment to reconnecting with grassroots communities and fortifying its presence in areas that have long been strongholds of support.

The Ivory Park rollout followed a similar event in Ward 95 (Diepsloot Branch), with Mbalula engaging directly with members at both locations on the same day.
