BOGUS SCHOOLS IN IVORY PARK

Ivory Park- A number of unregistered and illegal schools are operating at the back of yards of homes in Ivory Park.

The so called schools were visited by the SABC News crew and they reportedly were shocked with what they came across:

❌ Most of the teachers are Zimbabwean nationals.

❌ Grade R to 7 are under a single roof which is a shack.

❌ Parents pay up to R500 per month.

❌ 1 Afrikaans teacher did not have a Matric Certificate.

❌ The building is used as a charismatic church on weekends.

❌ The playground is littered with live wires and running sewage.

❌only 2 pit toilets for the entire school.

❌They don’t know who the MEC of Education, Panyaza Lesufi, is.

The Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Steve Mabona confirmed that the schools are not registered as they do not meet the Department’s requirements of health, fire and safety. The infrastructure must also be the similar to that of a ordinary public school.

The Gauteng MEC of Education, Panyaza Lesufi is visiting the schools today.

Report compiled by Mahlako Komane and Mike Hlengani.
