BUNDLES OF JOY TAUGHT READING SKILLS IN KAALFONTEIN
Yesterday the 5th of February 2020, the Vodacom Foundation prepared breakfast for learners at Kutloano Pre-School in Kaalfontein while they eagerly awaited to hear stories read for them.
This was in celebration of World Read Aloud Day. It’s important to teach kids reading skills from an early age, in order to address literacy challenges. And of course it starts with getting a good meal, giving young learners the energy to take on the day.
Kutloano Pre-School in Kaalfontein is one of eight ECDs sponsored by Vodacom Foundation, and there are currently three ECDs that are being completed, which will make it eleven in total.
Vodacom Chief Officer: Corporate Affairs, Taki Netshitenzhe, who is a Department of Education Read to Lead ambassador, read to eager learners because through education the youth have hope for a bright future.
Reading aloud to children develops their imagination, vocabulary and language abilities, which is what Taki demonstrated with the Kutloano Pre-School learners, as she read a story about Tata Mandela in Sepedi.
Vodacom Foundation is excited to continue providing access to quality education for all by supporting ECDs through infrastructural upgrades, ICT mobile solutions and mobile libraries.
