CALL FOR EBONY PARK CLINIC TO BE 24 HOURS AND LOCALS TO BE HIRED

Kaalfontein- It still seems unclear when the R45 million state of the art Ebony Park-Kaalfontein Clinic will finally open doors to the public.

A community meeting was held at the Clinic on Wednesday, the 17th of July. Representatives from City of Johannesburg Region A Health and Gauteng Department of Health were in attendance. Also present was the councilors of Ward 111 and Ward 92, Clr Matsemela and Clr Chauke respectively.

The reason that the Clinic has not opened it’s doors as yet is because of the community’s demand that the clinic must operate for 24 hours and KAE local residents should be hired.

The clinic should operate 24 hours to relieve some of the pressure that is experienced by Tembisa Hospital. Seriously injured patients and pregnant women should be able to be admitted at the new clinic immediately. A process to make the clinic 24 hours must be followed.

There’s also a call for Kaalfontein, Allandale and Ebony Park residents to be hired as general workers and nurses. People that are going to be hired should not only be residents but must also be qualified to do the job. The recruitment process must be transparent and vacancies should be bought to the community’s attention.

A Committee of 10 people that will represent the community will be chosen to form a task team to address the issues and work together with the government officials.

Feedback will be provided to the community in 2 months time, on or before the 17th of September 2019.

KAE News will seek to work with the councilors office for the community to be informed about developments and we will keep the community updated every step of the way.
