The deceased is alleged to have been involved in an attempted highjacking incident at Allandale Rod next to the Chloorkop traffic lights.
According to the police officer of Rabie Ridge SAPS, on Tuesday 12 April 2022, at about 18:50 he received a complaint of a murder at the Solvey Street, Chloorkop open field
When police arrived at the crime scene, paramedics were already there and had certified the unknown African male aged between 35 to 40 years dead.
The victim of the attempted carjacking came to the scene and identified the deceased as the suspect who had earlier tried to hijack her car.
“While the suspects were busy trying to force themselves into her vehicle she refused. Other motorist noticed what was happening. The other two suspects ran into their vehicle and drove away while the deceased tried to drive the victim’s car.” said Sergeant Dipolelo Moremi of the Rabie Ridge SAPS.
“He failed to start the vehicle. When he ran away, the community gave chase. He was later found on an open space with open wounds on his head and broken arm. He had been severely assaulted. The community members who assaulted him disappeared from the scene before police arrived.” said Moremi.
No arrests have been made as yet and investigations are ongoing.
The police are appealing to members of the community who may have information about the other suspects to come forward.
