COMMUNITY HOLDS OFF PROTEST ACTION

After the Ebony Park Shutdown yesterday, 5 August 2020. At a meeting in Ebony Park Primary School the community decided to hold off the protest action.

Last night, Eskom officials through the Ivory Park Police Station leadership, Brigadier Ngcobo and Colonel Chetty requested assurances that there won’t be any protest action in the area for safety of their technicians.

The power utility seeks assurances as they attempt to resolve the electricity impasse in Ebony Park. Community Leader, Sibusiso Moolar, on behalf of the community gave assurances that they won’t be any protest action today and Eskom can begin repairing and replacing failed transformers.

Eskom has apparently promised to attend to 2 transformers a day starting today. KAE News understands that they are 24 transformers that need to be replaced in Ebony Park and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, 2 more transformers failed in Ivory Park taking the number of failed transformers to 27 in KAE and surrounding areas.

The community has vowed to continue with protesting if Eskom does not come to the table as promised.
