CORONAVIRUS TESTING AND SCREENING IN IVORY PARK

The City of Johannesburg, Department of Health in Region A continued with screening and testing in Riverside, Ivory Park today, 1 May 2020. The testing site was set up in Ward 133 which also borders Ward 111.

At the time of publishing, City of Johannesburg had 828 and Region A had 82 confirmed cases of COVID-19. RegionA consists of Ivory Park, Kaalfontein, Ebony Park and Midrand amongst others.

Nearby, Ekurhuleni North 1 has 40 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Ekurhuleni North 1 comprises of Tembisa, Winnie Mandela and Birchleigh.

At a provincial level, the total number of confirmed cases at the time of publishing sat at 1,408 in Gauteng with an impressive 948 recoveries. The number of coronavirus related deaths in Gauteng is 11.

The Gauteng Department of Health said “out of a total of 8,353 contacts traced (these are individuals who were in contact with people who tested positive for COVID-19); 5,803 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported and therefore they are de-isolated.”

A total number of 72 people are currently hospitalized in public and private health facilities.
