They announced that SRD (Social Relief of Distress) grants of R370.00 will be paid earlier than usual. These grants are essential for more than nine (9) million South Africans, providing critical support.
SRD Grant Payment Dates:
- Payments will be made between 17 December and 23 December 2024.
December 2024 Grant Payment Schedule:
- Older Persons Grant: Wednesday, 3 December
- Disability Grant: Thursday, 4 December
- Children’s Grant: Friday, 5 December
January 2025 Grant Payment Schedule:
- Older Persons Grant: Friday, 3 January
- Disability Grant: Monday, 6 January
- Children’s Grant: Tuesday, 7 January

Who Qualifies for SRD Grants?
The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) is meant for South African Citizens, Refugees, Asylum Seekers, and Special Permit Holders. They must be between the ages of 18 and 60 years. They should have insufficient means and not receive social grants on behalf of themselves. Additionally, they should not contribute to or be eligible for UIF payment and have no financial support from any other source.
