Police Officers from Gauteng Highway Patrol arrested two males between 48 and 56 years-old after they were found in possession of over 1 million counterfeit notes on Friday, 10 September 2021.
The duo was arrested at Modderfontein Road in Rabie Ridge.
The police were patrolling along Modderfontein Road when they spotted a suspicious white Toyota Hilux bakkie with two occupants.
Upon seeing the police vehicle the bakkie started driving faster. At an intersection the driver indicated right but turned left. The police turned on their sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
When the vehicle eventually stopped. Constable Ncube and Constable Khumalo approached the vehicle and asked permission to search the vehicle and occupants.
While searching the police discovered a bunch of counterfeit R200 notes inside two school bags worth more than a million rand. The suspects both couldn’t account for the fake cash.
