Police officers from the Ivory Park SAPS have on Christmas Day arrested a man for his alleged involvement in the murder of another person at a drinking place on Thursday night.
The suspect, 29, together with three other people, is alleged to have stoned the victim to death in Ebony Park. Details surrounding the murder, and the source of the argument, are not yet clear but the police are hard at work in solving this cruel episode, fuelled in part by the level of drunkenness shortly before the murder.
The suspect made an appearance at the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on Monday to face a murder charge.
The Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed the swift arrest, and has instructed his investigating officers to go all out to bring the outstanding suspects to book.
“A large number of our officers are at work this time so as to enable us to deal with unfortunate circumstances such as these,” said Brigadier Ngcobo
Meanwhile, two men suffered a severe beating in the hands of the community of Ebony Park Ext 4 on Tuesday afternoon.
The two are alleged to be part of the gang that robs people of their cellphones in KAE and surrounding areas.
The suspects were chased from Ebony Park’s Extension 5 until near Ebony Park Primary School. According to eyewitness accounts, two of them managed to escape the wrath of the community. Suspects were apparently found with a toy gun.
