Eskom will implement load shedding from 12:00 to 16:30 in KAE and surrounding areas today, 14 August 2020. That’s if you are fortunate enough to have electricity right now.
The electricity crisis continues to worsen in Kaalfontein, Allandale, Ebony Park (KAE) and Ivory Park as 2 more transformers exploded overnight.
Hundreds of households have been in the dark for months with no end in sight.
A shutdown, protest actions and even marching to Eskom offices has proved futile for affected communities. Eskom is seemingly unwilling to address the issue of failed transformers in the area.
EBONY PARK
After shutting down Ebony Park last week. Residents of Ebony Park demonstrated outside Eskom Distribution Centre in Chloorkop yesterday, 13 August 2020.
KAALFONTEIN
After months of being in the dark. Residents of Kaalfontein started blocking main roads in Kaalfontein late last night.
IVORY PARK
The community of Ivory Park called off a planned “Shutdown” and will visit Eskom offices today to try resolve the impasse. Affected communities in parts of Ivory Park have took it upon themselves to disconnect illegal connections.
Eskom warned customers last month that due to high volumes of failed equipment in areas with illegal connections, there may be delays in restoration of supply due to resource constraints.
KAE News is still awaiting response to questions sent to Eskom Gauteng Media Desk. The last correspondence received was that Eskom will be communicating information of transformers that require replacement soon.
