Ebony Park- The Power Utility is restoring power in some areas that have not been without power for most of the month of July.
Eskom advised that only areas where Eskom technicians are allowed safe access to conduct audits to remove illegal connections, disconnect non-paying customers and issue fines will have electricity restored. Eskom will not be restoring power if it’s employees are intimidated. An Eskom employee was beaten up and sustained serious injuries in Ivory Park. The Eskom van was torched by the community.
Eskom has also called a meeting with Councilors in Region A to engage on the issues around power outages related to overloaded transformers. The meeting will be held on the 1st August 2019 at Council Chambers in Johannesburg. The City of Johannesburg Revenue Department will also make a presentation to councilors on existing changes the department is making in the Regional Customer Care Centre.
