ESKOM’S LOAD REDUCTION UNDERWAY IN KAE
Eskom continues to implement load reductions during peak hours in the mornings and evenings. Load reduction is currently being implemented in parts of Kaalfontein, Ivory Park and Ebony Park. Load reduction was implemented from 08:00.
Load reduction is due to the network overloads, especially in areas with high-population density and multiple backyard dwellings. Illegal connections and meter bypassing also contribute to the system overloading.
The community of Ebony Park, Tshwaranang Street did not have electricity for 5 days. A transformer exploded in the area due to overloading.
Households in Kaalfontein Flounderfish have been without electricity since over the weekend due to a tampering of the electricity infrastructure by someone known by the community.
Eskom advises that If illegal connections and meter bypassing are reported, Eskom can keep the lights on in our area and implement fewer Load Reductions. Eskom implements Load Reductions with real time networking when system is under pressure to avoid explosions and failure of transformations. Therefore, a schedule is not available.
The community is urged to report Illegal Electricity activity to Eskom’s Crime Line on 0800 11 27 22.
