FIGHTERS TO MARCH AGAINST IVORY FIRE STATION
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Ward 133 will on Saturday, 04 June 2022, embark on a protest action against the Ivory Park Fire Station.
The march is expected to depart at Pick n Pay Swazi Inn at 07:00 in the morning and commence to the Ivory Park Fire Station at Freedom Drive, Ivory Park where a Memorandum of Demands will be handed over to the Fire Station management.
Some of the Fighters demands are:
- The City of Johannesburg must bring back ambulances. The Fighters say that deaths could be avoided if ambulances are available. They claim that injured people and pregnant women have been in the receiving end of this problem.
- The Fighters want the fire extinguishers to come back. According to the EFF Ward 133, shacks have burned down in areas like Bagdad and Sisonke because there was no fire extinguishers at the Fire Station.
The EFF has called the Ivory Park Fire Station “dysfunctional” and claimed that employees are getting paid for nothing.
