FIVE PATROLLERS IN CUSTODY FOR MURDER

Five (5) community patrollers from Ivory Park have been arrested for allegedly killing of a 28-year-old man whom they accused of robberies.

“The five, whose ages range from 27 to 62 year, were arrested early yesterday with a murder incident which took place in the wee hours of yesterday (Monday, 15 August). The deceased was taken from his home and taken to another place were he was badly beaten, to an extent that he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.” said Captain Ben Matimulane, the spokesperson of Ivory Park SAPS.

The Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed this arrest as it will send a clear message that we all have an obligation to work within certain legal framework.

“Patrollers have to know what is expected of them when there is a suspect that needs to be arrested,” said Brigadier Ngcobo. “We cannot afford a rule by a mob.” he added.

The five will be charged with murder and are due to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 19 August 2022.
