Residents have been left stranded after heavy floods swept off several shacks in the Kaalspruit River on Friday night, 19 February 2022.
More than 50 households have been affected in Ivory Park, Lindokuhle and Riverside.
The MMC for Public Safety, Cllr David Tembe, Ward 111 Councillor Nontutuzela Supe, Ward 78 Councillor Stephen Makamo and officials from City EMS, EMPD EMS and Disaster Management were at the scene.
One drowning has been confirmed so far while search and rescue teams continue to search for more people who have drowned.
Two kids were saved by EMS Officials and residents of Ivory Park while a search is ongoing for another child.
The affected families are temporarily being housed by friends and families while relief is being sought by the City of Johannesburg.
