FUEL PRICE DROP BUT NOWHERE TO GO
Effective midnight, 1 April 2020, the price of fuel will decrease by almost R2. Unfortunately for non-essential workers, they won’t benefit from this fuel drop just yet as the country is currently in a lockdown due to the coronavirus.
It is expected that another fuel price drop will be announced in May.
At midnight, Petrol will see a price drop of R1,76 in Gauteng. This is one of the biggest decreases in recent years. The massive decrease in the fuel price is because fuel was not in high demand due to covid-19 travel restrictions and a sharp fall in the Brent Crude oil price.
Minister of Mineral and Energy Resources Gwede Mantashe said in a statement that all grades of fuel, including petrol, diesel, illuminating paraffin and liquified petroleum gas (LPG) will drop from April 1.
The price of petrol will drop by R1.76 per litre for 93 unleaded in Gauteng and
95 unleaded will decrease by R1.88. Diesel will decrease by R1.34 per litre in Gauteng and Illuminating paraffin will drop by R1.83.
From tomorrow, motorists are expected to pay prices last seen in 2013 for fuel.
