GAUTENG IS THE EPICENTER OF CORONAVIRUS

Gauteng Province is the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa. Of the 2,003 confirmed cases nationwide, Gauteng has 801 cases which is the highest in all 9 provinces and is 40% of the National confirmed cases. The province also has 3 coronavirus related deaths.

8,005 Community Health Workers and 607 health professionals have been trained to conduct tracing, screening and testing. Since the 31st of March 2020, the provincial government has screened 26,841 people, 440 of the screened people displayed symptoms and were accordingly referred for testing. The screening campaign has been rolled out in all 5 districts and will prioritize vulnerable areas.

City of Johannesburg has the majority of confirmed cases at 440. KAE residents displaying coronavirus symptoms are urged to visit Bophelong Clinic or Halfway House Clinic.
