GOFL 7 VRRRRPHAS FOR JMPD

Today the 14th of October 2019, the Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Public Safety In the City of Johannesburg , Michael Sun, delivered 40 brand new Special Patrol Unit (SPU) vehicles at the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) Head Office.

The 40 Volkswagen Golf 7 vehicles have been allocated to JMPD SPU. They will be dealing with traffic issues in the City and responding to all emergencies. The Unit will also ensure criminality, reckless and negligent driving are dealt with swiftly.

The officers that will be driving the vehicles have “a great responsibility to ensure that the vehicles benefit citizens of Johannesburg”. said the Acting Chief of Police Max Khanyile.

“This is proof that the taxpayers money is put to good use. As our JMPD members drive these vehicles they must remember that these vehicles are given with the compliments of the residents of the City of Johannesburg. Show your appreciation by curbing crime” he addressed the JMPD officers.

The Public Safety Department’s acquisition of these vehicles form part of the JMPDs fleet renewal program.

The VW Golf 7 retails from R500 000,00 and is one of the high performance vehicles in South Africa. Acceleration of the Golf 7 from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) takes 7.5 seconds, while the top speed is 227 km/h (141 mph).
