GREAT CITIZEN ARREST BY RABIE RIDGE COMMUNITY

In the early hours of Wednesday, 06 April 2022, a 31 year old female victim was robbed at gunpoint as she was on her way to work at Falcon Street, Rabie Ridge. The victim was robbed by a 16 year old suspect.

“The suspect was arrested by members of the community and taken to Rabie Ridge Police Station without harm. The complainant was already at the police station to open the case and was able to positively identify the suspect”, said Sergeant Dipolelo Moremi, the spokesperson of the Rabie Ridge SAPS.

“Her belongings were also found in the suspect’s possession. Upon further searching of the suspect, two (2) firearms were also found in his possession and they were handed over to the police as exhibits”, Moremi added.

The suspect will be dealt with in terms of the Child Justice Act as he is still a minor. The Station Commander of Rabie Ridge SAPS Colonel Johanna Ngoma thanked the community involvement in addressing the fight against crime.

The police are appealing to the community of Rabie Ridge and neighbouring areas to report all criminal activities that happen around them and not to take the law in their own hands.
