Today, the 6th of December 2019, two white men were found selling firearms at the Wiedabrug taxi rank, not far from Olievenhoutbosch. One suspect was caught and one fled the scene with a silver Grey Ford Ranger. The one who was caught said his from KwaZulu-Natal.
The arrest comes after five people were shot dead and nine others seriously wounded in separate shooting incidents in Olievenhoutbosch and Wierdabrug on Monday 2 December 2019.
The taxi violence is now going for its third week. A total of 7 fatalities and numerous injuries including that of a 6 year old have been recorded since the start of the violence.
The Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, commended the police for the arrest of the suspect allegedly linked to aiding taxi violence in Olievenhoutbosch and police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect who fled the scene.
