The South African Census is conducted every 10 years. The last one was conducted in 2011 and Stats SA is currently conducting the fourth population count in South Africa.
A census is the total count of a population whereby all people – including children, babies, homeless people and foreign nationals within the borders of a country – are counted.
A census collects data about a country’s socio-economic dynamics – people’s living conditions, access to basic services, income, etc.
Households who did not register online for telephonic interviews will be visited by Census field workers for data collection by the 20th of March 2022.
Residents are cautioned not to allow any field worker in your household without GREEN branded uniform and Stats SA ID Card.
Field workers can be verified by contacting 0800 110 284. Census SA field workers will not ask your personal details such as ID Number or Banking Details.
