Constable Mabusha Marven Maphoro, born on 15 February 1985, was 38 years old at the time of his passing on 17 November 2023.
He had dedicated two years of his life to the South African Police Service (SAPS) since his appointment on 1 December 2020.
Constable Maphoro was a devoted husband and father to five children, the youngest of whom was seven years old when he died.
On what started as a routine day, Constable Maphoro left home for Ivory Park Police Station, committed to serving and protecting his community. That evening, at approximately 23:30, he and his team were dispatched in a state vehicle to respond to an ATM bombing incident at the Total Garage in Hospital View, Tembisa.
Upon arrival, they were met with a barrage of gunfire from a heavily armed group of suspects who had robbed the ATM of an undisclosed amount of money.
Tragically, Constable Maphoro was struck by bullets, sustaining fatal injuries to the back of his head and body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rest in peace, Constable Maphoro. Your legacy of dedication, service, and sacrifice will forever be remembered.
