The Boulders Shopping Centre management has denied that they was an incident of attempted kidnapping at the Shopping Centre’s basement parking today, 22 September 2020.
This is after a video went viral on social media platforms. On the video, a male is seen warning Midrand residents of human trafficking and kidnapping. The Facebook user claimed to have seen an incident of attempted kidnapping at the Boulders Shopping Centre basement parking this morning.
The Boulders management has labeled the video as false and misleading and has set the record of what transpired straight. “A couple which had withdrawn a large sum of money at the Carlswald Lifestyle Shopping Centre in Midrand this afternoon was followed to the Boulders Shopping Centre and held up in the underground parking area.”
“No shots were fired and the armed suspects managed to get away with a purse containing the money, a phone and passport. A WhatsApp video purporting this incident to be related to child trafficking is false and misinformed.” said the Boulders Management in a statement.
The Boulders Management has cautioned customers to always be aware of surroundings and report suspicious activity to Centre Management or to on site security. The Midrand SAPS is investigating.
