ILLEGAL CONNECTIONS REMOVALS IN IVORY PARK

Eskom is currently removing illegally connected transformers in Ivory Park to prevent electrocutions and energy losses.

Eskom officials are disconnecting illegal connections in Ivory Park and are accompanied by members of the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The area has been rocked by frequent power outages as a result of network overloading and transformer failures. Some communities have not had electricity for months.

Ivory Park is one of the areas that Eskom implements load reduction. Load Reduction is implemented by the power utility in high density areas with instances of illegal connections and meter bypassing.
