IVORY PARK COP ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER OF GIRLFRIEND

A 25 year-old detective police officer stationed at Ivory Park Police Station has been arrested for attempted murder after allegedly shooting his girlfriend on Tuesday afternoon, 09 May 2023. The victim was admitted to Tembisa hospital with two (2) gunshot wounds, and the suspect is currently behind bars at Tembisa Police Station.

According to reports, the incident occurred after a fight broke out between the victim and the suspect in their room. The victim then ran out of the room and sought help from neighbors, screaming that someone was trying to shoot her. The suspect followed her and fired several shots, resulting in the victim being wounded.

Eyewitnesses says that the victim ran away from the scene with other people, while the suspect continued to follow them. VisPol Officers who were attending to the complaint later found the victim and suspect at car wash a few houses away from the scene.

The victim was immediately rushed to Tembisa Hospital, while the suspect was disarmed and placed under arrest, and is currently being detained at Tembisa cells.

Authorities have also confiscated the suspect’s service pistol used during the incident.

The suspect is expected to be charged with attempted murder and will appear in court soon.
