A man is facing charges of murder after sjamboking his wife’s suspected lover to death.
The man was arrested on the 8th of February for allegedly murdering a man he believed was in a relationship with his wife.
The 55-year-old suspect from Ivory Park had accused the victim, a 37 year old man, of having an affair with his wife before the murder.
The Ivory Park Station spokesperson, Captain Bernard Matimulane said the suspect went to the deceased’s house on 5 February to request that he (the deceased) accompany him at his home to talk.
It is alleged that once at his home, the suspect used a sjambok to assault the victim.
On the 7th of February, the suspect’s wife received a call from the victim’s relative to tell her that the victim had died.
“We take it that he died as a result of the injuries inflicted upon him. The police became aware of the incident after the death was reported.” said Matimulane.
Matimulane added that the suspect would be charged with murder and will appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.
