IVORY PARK SWIMMING POOL AWAITS WATER CONNECTION

The Ivory Park Swimming Pool is expected to open doors to the public in the next few weeks.

The much-anticipated multimillion Ivory Park Swimming Pool complex project is only awaiting water connection to officially complete the state-of-the-art facility.

Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) acting CEO Siyabonga Genu says the connection of the main water has been the delay. “The project has been completed. The only outstanding item is the bulk water connection from Joburg Water,” Genu explains.

He adds that JDA remains optimistic that the completion of the water connection will finalise the project.

“Following the bulk water connection from Joburg Water and all the tests successful completed, we anticipate the facility will be handed over to the City of Johannesburg’s Community Development department in the next few weeks,” Genu adds.

Completion of the Ivory Park Swimming Pool complex will add to the City’s more than 50 swimming pools spread across seven regions and benefit the community of Ivory Park, Kaalfontein and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Community Development appointed JDA to build the swimming pool at a cost of R43 million.

The complex is located in ward 111 on Freedom Drive and will boast an Olympic-style swimming pool and splash pool with a grandstand for spectators during competitions.

The scope of work for the implementation of the facility included earthworks, parking layout, pump room, main swimming pool, kids swimming pool, staff quarters, guardhouse, changing rooms, offices, boundary wall, stormwater management, bulk services connections and attenuation pool and pavilion.
