KAALFONTEIN TENANTS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIRARMS AND AMMUNITION
The Ivory Park Police have warned landlords to be careful who they rent out rooms to. Some of our tenants are not gainfully employed and are using backrooms in Kaalfontein, Allandale, Ebony Park (KAE) as hideouts.
Two men aged 23 and 29 have been arrested on Monday night in Kaalfontein, Midrand, for alleged possession of three unlicensed firearms and ammunition. One of the firearms reportedly belongs to a metro police officer.
“The two are originally from the neighbouring Tembisa and have, owing to their criminal activities, fled the police and rented out rooms at Kaalfontein. One of the suspects is on bail for another possession of an unlicensed firearm case in Pretoria for which he still attends trial.” said the Ivory Park SAPS Spokesperson, Captain Ben Matimulane.
Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAS, has welcomed this arrest, saying: “ The fact that the two have been arrested with three firearms, and have decided to rent out another hideout place even when they are not gainfully employed clearly showed what kind of people we are dealing with. They reek danger.”
They are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court very soon to answer to charges of illegally possessing unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
