Ivory Park SAPS Crime Prevention Team have last night arrested a 31 year old man for possession of stolen property.
The officers, who acted on information, visited the man’s place where they found two speakers, cordless microphones and wires at his place, and he couldn’t give a satisfactory account of how the items came to be in his possession.
In any case, the officers where aware that the speakers were some of the items stolen at a church in Wierdabrug, Pretoria, in the early hours of 1 June 2021. That night, church equipment totalling almost half a million rand was stolen.
Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, has welcomed this much needed information from the members of the community and, has extended his appreciation to the crime prevention officers for their quick response and reaction.
“Our officers are doing all they can to ensure that the church property is recovered and those responsible are brought to account,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.
The 31 year old man is not the only person to have been arrested in connection with possession of the church property. Some of the property was recovered from a man in Winnie Mandela area of Tembisa last night.
The Ivory Park suspect is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate court on Friday to answer to a charge of possession of stolen property.
