STATEMENT FROM JOHANNESBURG WATER REGARDING THE CURRENT WATER CRISIS:
Grand Central Reservoir: is currently empty. We are trying to fill it up through the Rand Water supply so that we can feed the tower. It is almost filled to capacity. Areas fed from the reservoir and tower should have water in the late afternoon.
Halfway House: is currently filling up. Residents should have water in the late afternoon.
Klipfontein: Half of Klipfontein has water through the bypass that was created. Chloorokop reservoir is currently low. We will be providing four water tankers in the area.
President park: was running low hence we couldn’t feed the tower. Most of the areas that were without water yesterday have water now except Rabie Ridge ext. 1. Ebony Park and Kaalfontein should be experiencing low water pressure that should sustain them throughout the day as pressure builds up and demand decreases.
We appeal to all to use water sparingly and to remind them that level one water restrictions are still in place. Watering of gardens is not allowed between 6 am and 6 pm in summer months (1 Sept to 31 March) and furthermore, it is not allowed to wash paved areas and driveway using hosepipes.
