As at today, 11 May 2020, they are a total of 10 652 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in South Africa. This is an increase of 637 new cases from yesterday. A total of 356,067 COVID-19 tests have been conducted of which 14,731 are new tests since yesterday’s report.
We are saddened to report 12 new deaths. We express our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.
Our Region A in the City of Johannesburg has 157 confirmed COVID-19 cases as at yesterday, 10 May 2020. Region A consists of Ivory Park, Ebony Park, Kaalfontein and Midrand amongst others. This past weekend Department of Health officials conducted screening and testing in Ward 110 at Floyd Shivambu Informal Settlement.
At a provincial level, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Gauteng is 1971 with 22 deaths and an impressive 1,305 recoveries at the time of publishing. A total of 7,786 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported and are therefore de-isolated.
A total of 59 patients are currently hospitalized in the public and private health facilities.
