MORE THAN 400 000 UNCOLLECTED IDS

The Department of Home Affairs says that more than 400,000 Identity Documents (IDs) are awaiting collection at Home Affairs Offices nationwide.

The public is urged to collect their IDs at Home Affairs Offices nationwide to be able to participate in the upcoming Local Government Elections scheduled for 1 November 2021.

You may also apply and collect your ID to participate and register to vote in the elections. Home Affairs Offices will be open during registration weekend, 18 and 19 September 2021, from 8am until 5am.

In the lead up to voter registration weekend, Home Affairs will prioritise ID applications for first time applicants.

ID Collection of all categories and issuance of temporary ID certificates, as well as resolving matters relating to ID duplicates, amendments and rectifications of details on the National Population Register will also be prioritised in support of the Voter Registration Process.

Residents are reminded that they may still register to vote or change address online at https://www.elections.org.za/
