O KAE MOLAO OPERATION IN IVORY PARK
Gauteng Police commissioner Elias Mawela has welcomed the arrests made during the province’s O Kae Molao/Safer Festive Season anti-crime campaign.
The operation was conducted by members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers led by Lieutenant General Mawela.
The operation which consisted of a road block and a visit to hot-spot areas in the Ivory Park area led to the arrest of 600 suspects. A stop and search operation for stolen vehicles and illegal weapons was conducted in Swazi Inn and the Republic Road today, 07 January 2021.
Some of the suspects arrested included:
A total of 110 wanted perpetrators of gender-based violence.
Two suspects were arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to distribute. One person was arrested for possession of 80 packets of Nyaope and the other for possession of 18 packets of rock.
A suspect was taken in for being in possession of replica gun and live ammunition at the road block.
Six foreign nationals from Zimbabwe and Mozambique were arrested for failing to produce identification.
Furthermore, law enforcement officers ensured that law and order is maintained and that the adjusted alert Level 3 regulations are adhered to.
A Walk about and loud hailing at Themba Khoza informal settlement was conducted to educate and create awareness of the Covid-19 regulations.
The community was urged to wear a mask, sanitize and maintain social distancing to curb the spread of the virus
