PHILLYS GAMES ARE ON

A total of 11 goals were scored on the opening day of the 31st edition of Philly’s Games played at Ivory Park in Tembisa.

The opening game ended as a 1-1 draw between Abarondoli and One Lion FC, with a goal in each half by either side settling the match as a stalemate.
Game two saw Dingan Masanabo’s Tso XI beat Musa United 3-2 in an entertaining encounter.

The third game involved Skepe Nkatole beating Rebels FC 1-0, with Karabo Mkhabele (Shake it up) turning it on with skills and trickery to the delight of the more than 10 000 fans who came on the first day of the tournament.

In the final game of the day, Ama BEE beat the Samba boys 2-1.

Tso XI coach Dingaan Masanabo, making his debut on the touchline, was impressed by the skills on display.

“I never got to play at this tournament, but I’m really happy for the boys, the tournament is big, and is shown on channel 202 and 209 on SuperSport.”
“One thing for sure, I’m looking forward to the next game on Wednesday.”

DAY 2

Day two of the Philly’s games saw eight goals scored in the 360 minutes of football with all four games being broadcast on SuperSport channels 202 and 209.

More than 15 000 spectators flocked to Ivory Park football grounds to watch the action on display.

Boko Haram took on Elements FC in the fist game of the day, with the game ending as a 1-1 stalemate after 90 minutes.

The midday kickoff saw YOU FIRST beat Destroyers by a solitary goal.
The third game of the day between Sunrise FC and Makagola FC finished with Makagola FC walking away as 2-1 victors.

In the final match Amandla FC lost to Phanda Phanda FC. The match saw chances on both ends with Amandla rattling the post a couple times. However, Thulani Juvakuva’s brilliant strike broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute to settle the game in Phanda’s favour.

Today is day 3. The third day of the tournament will see second legs being played at the same venue. Ama BEE play Samba Boys at 10am, Skepe Nkatole face off against Rebels at noon, followed by TSO XI against Musa United at 2pm. In the last game of the day, Abarondoli take on One Lion FC at 4pm.
