POLICE NEED ASSISTANCE RELATING TO THREE MURDERS
The Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, is calling on any member of the public with information regarding any of the three (3) murders that took place within the policing precinct to please assist.
The precinct has had three murders since yesterday and, unfortunately, no suspect has been arrested in any of the incidents as yet.
“Last night a Ethiopian shop owner in his twenties was attacked by an unknown number of suspects who gained entry by breaking the wall. Once inside they ransacked the store, helping themselves to everything they desired, set the building on fire before escaping. The 26-year old store operator died as a result of smoke inhalation.” said Captain Ben Matimulane, the Spokesperson of the Ivory Park SAPS.
The above incident which happened in Tswelopele Ext 6 follows hot on the heels of two murders, one in Kaalfontein where an unknown man was found dead early yesterday. His identity is not known, as yet,and he had injuries on the head.
“In another incident a 42 year old taxi marshal was shot several times by unknown people. The suspicion, because of the nature of his occupation, is that it is related to the taxi industry related issues.” said Matimulane.
The taxi marshal murder took place at Ivory Park Extension 3 along Freedom Drive.
Brigadier Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, who also visited the scenes, is appealing for help in assisting the police in solving these murders.
“Chances are one member of the public may have seen something, the identity of the killers, or the vehicle they were using. Any of these bits and pieces of information can be of help to us in our quest to bring the perpetrators to book,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.
Community members with information that can assist the police are urged to contact the Ivory Park Police Station on (011) 990-9600.
