POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED FOR SELLING POLICE TRAINEE APPLICATIONS FORMS

A Constable from Florida Police Station has been arrested for illegally selling application forms to aspirant trainees who want to join the Police Force.

The Gauteng Anti-Corruption Investigating Unit (ACIU) received a tip of the Constable’s shenanigans. They operationalised the tip-Off to nail the suspect. On Monday the 14th of October 2019 the ACIU team nabbed the 39 year old constable at a fast-food outlet in Roodeport.

He was found in possession of the deposit that had just been paid by the ‘victim’ who was doing undercover work and was in on the crime prevention operation.

The suspect is accused of selling an application form at R3500 each, where the applicant would have to pay R2000 in advance. Upon further investigation it has been confirmed that 3 other suspects have been scammed by the same Police member.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is currently looking for prospective police trainees and application forms may be obtained at your nearest police station. The application form is free and can also be downloaded on the SAPS website.
